How Much Is Retirement Ignorance Costing You?

By: JohnJames

After 30 or 40 years in the mad rush of the corporate world, you should be happy taking a break. Retirement at this stage should come as a great relief rather than a pain. At least now you can afford to do those things you loved doing, but couldn't do because work did not permit you to.

If you are going into retirement, it doesn't matter what ideas you may have. What matters, is to keep yourself busy with things you enjoy doing. Have fun and lots of exciting experiences that will work to enrich your retirement years.

When planning for retirement, do not focus solely on the financial aspect. The emotional aspect is as vital as the financial. The two have to be balanced for you to have a great retirement full of happiness with no regrets.

Retirement is all about having goals in mind and taking giant steps to achieve them. It means you have to set aside a part of your earning in an investment. With this investment, life will be nothing but fun after retirement.

Spend less than you earn if you want to save for your retirement. This is one success tip you must never overlook. Borrowing and spending when your earning is not even enough can only be disastrous.

Who says that life has to stop simply because you are retiring and are getting older? Retirement is not about living a sedentary life. Retirement is simply having more time on your hands to do the things that you may have always wanted to do but simply did not have enough time for.

So, it's retirement time for you? But how do you feel about it? Are you grateful that finally you are going to cut off that stressful working life of yours? Or you are simply one of those who believe that retirement is a bad omen, basically because you think it means your age is getting the better part of you?

If you are someone that loves reading, one way to enjoy your retirement is to organize a book club. You can get hooked with like-minded friends, and relatives, working professionals and students in order to have regular readings, discussions, debates and reviews on books, articles, novels and any other intellectual reading materials. This will help to sharpen and widen your mind. It will also keep you very active, even in retirement.
