Keeping Christmas Morning Forever

By: J Gardener

Parents of young children know that Christmas is one of the most important days of the year, in their kids' lives. Moms and dads everywhere do their best to make sure that Santa Claus knows exactly what to leave under the tree on Christmas morning. There are few sights as heartwarming to a parent as the look of delight on a child's face, as the bounty of Christmas is revealed. It's an event that every parent wants to make more wonderful, every year.

As children grow and families evolve, so do the ways that they settle in, to their own unique methods of celebrating, on Christmas morning. But, no matter how a family's Christmas habits adapt, through the years, the memories of those first few Christmas mornings as a family are treasures that everyone wants to retain.

Recording Christmas is a great way to keep family memories from fading, over the years. Today, there are so many different kinds of electronic recording media available, most of which is simple to operate. Just about any family member can be the Christmas cinematographer or sound engineer, and preserve the joyful times of the season for years to come.

Most families have some sort of video-recording camera or device. These cameras, today, require almost no skill or effort to run, and can easily be set up, out of the way, in a place that can record a family's entire Christmas morning at the tree. DVD's or mini-tapes are easy to store, and easy to edit, later, into special Christmas videos.

Today's digital photo cameras are simple and easy to use, as easy as point-and-shoot, in most cases. Many families prefer photos to videos, especially when recording each other, first thing on Christmas morning, while everyone is still in bathrobes and pajamas. The resulting photo collections can heartwarming as well as very funny, especially if everyone agrees that the photographer must not edit out any pictures.

However a family chooses to record its Christmas morning, they can be sure that, years from now, they'll be glad that they did record it. Seeing the record of a family's growth and evolution is a wonderful way to reminisce, later, at family gatherings. And the generations that follow will be grateful to have the opportunity to see the kind of joy that brought about their own families.
