Melaleuca Distributors Aren't All Created Equal

One of the most common myths spreading like wild fire throughout network marketing companies like Melaleuca is that "Anyone can do this business!" Other statements made by MLM companies promise a huge return in a relatively short time frame and this promotes the same thought, but it's all a sham! The belief that anyone can achieve great success without any type of experience or skills is sadly mistaken and worse yet it's the distributors that pay the price for this huge mistake!

Here's the truth. Not all network marketers are created equal. Melaleuca, Inc. distributors need to understand that people are inherently different and each of us begins our home based business at different starting points. Some people come in with skills and financial resources where others lack and just because someone else in the business makes $20,000 per month doesn't mean that everyone will do this.

Has the Melaleuca Company led you to believe that anyone can get into this business and obtain the same results as the big MLM players? Here's a little secret that Melaleuca business owners won't hear from their upline, sponsors or even the company. Often, the big MLM players move from company to company. As a result, when these players make the move, their experience and their marketing skills and most importantly, a huge chunk of their downline goes with them. When they plant themselves in a new company, it's very easy for them to earn commissions checks that most people only dream of.

Melaleuca home based business beginners may have already heard how this seemingly "nobody" in the MLM world went from rags to riches in only six months. On top of that, distributors hear that this person is making $30,000 and they are being told that they can do it too! What's not being told to them is that the glory and stardom that these MLM gurus have is really a result of years of experience in sales and marketing not to mention thousands of dollars invested and countless hours of hard work!

Let's really take a look at this. Does a stay-at-home mom have the same skills that a fireman or a car mechanic has? The answer is an obvious "no". So how then, can we really believe that we or the stay-at-home mom or the fireman or the mechanic can compete against the MLM Melaleuca professional? It's ridiculous to lump everyone into one category and think that anyone in the Wellness Company can do this business!

The first most important skill set that a Melaleuca wellness rep can have are sales skills. Not only do they have to have them, but they also have to be constantly refining them. Distributors have to know that sales skills are very necessary because if they're involved with Melaleuca, the Wellness Company, they are by default involved with selling. No matter what you're upline or sponsor has told you, you need sales and marketing skills!

The second factor is the amount of time they can put into their business. To be successful, distributors need to invest at least 8-10 hours of pure action time every week. This is the bare minimum! It would be better if they could spend 12-15 hours a week, but everyone's situation is different. Some successful Melaleuca product distributors don't have day jobs, so they can work on their business full time, while others have to go to work everyday. Ultimately it comes down to how well distributors manage their time.

In order to be successful, distributors have to dedicate some money towards marketing their business. Many network marketing companies tell their new distributors that all they have to pay for are the initial fees and a monthly mandatory product order. Every solid business has a marketing budget - i.e. - Coca-Cola, Wal-Mart, etc. and your business is not the exception. To get your business running at full potential, you need to have cash to market your business!

The next key to success is generating qualified leads (prospects) for your Melaleuca business. The money set aside for marketing is used for lead generation. Now there are basically two ways to get leads - advertising yourself or paying for leads. Distributors should really nail down how to advertise for theirown leads simply because it's more cost effective. Paying someone for leads may be okay short term though. In any case, just know that your goal is to get high-quality, qualified and targeted leads. This will ensure your success as a Melaleuca distributor.
