Rule of Thumb to Internet Marketing

By: Vlad Ehrsam

Internet marketing can be confusing for most people. If you are at all familiar with the Internet, then you may believe that content riddled with keywords is the key to success. However, this is not necessarily the case. The content needs to read well, be informative, and not consist of mindless plastering of keywords throughout the copy. Content is EVERYTHING!

Writing a lot of articles to help sell our products or services is not something that many of us have time to do. Some of us, however, just plain do not have what it takes to write quality articles.

Never try to fix what is not broken. Rather, use these four ideas to help liven up your Internet marketing copy.

One: Humorous Quotes are Always a Good Idea

Maybe you should think about creating a web page solely dedicated to humorous quotes. This is great way to drive traffic to your site but many overlook it. Books such as "Great Quotes from Great Leaders", by Peg Anderson can be used as a resource. Or, try just typing in some quotes you already know into a search engine to find other websites already dedicated to quotes.

Set aside some time to research "what's" available, until you find just the right quote. Copy and paste, or contract someone to write the quotations for you into a single web page. Include a link to your company's website, and watch how fast your site grows in popularity.

2. Internet Articles

Online copyright laws are seldom enforced. You are free to copy text, rewrite, re-print, distribute, and sell the material you find. Investing in a copyright website is too expensive for most small businesses. But in the end, "you" win. It's easier to research a topic, gather the information, and rewrite the material, than shoot straight from your hip.

It is unethical to "steal" the material, but it isn't uncommon to use the material as a resource.

3. Use Directory Pages

The directory of information available on the Internet has contributed greatly to its popularity. People are always trying to find information on home improvement, self- improvement, recipes and all kinds of products or services. Every time they click on a link they get that much closer to what they are searching for. You would probably generate more traffic than you could imagine by adding a directory page to your site.

Adding a directory will put your site up next to the search engine directories. Visitors are likely to bookmark your site, which means they will return. Of course, you don't want to lead business away from your company. Instead, add link partners that are not direct competitors. This will add to your exposure.

Four: Content For Free

Other people's work is the best time saver you can find. Why spend all of your time holed up next to the computer when the world is filled with writers just itching to take care of it for you? Use an online directory to find people willing to help you with your articles and help market your website.

You'll end up with a fully functional website, in less time without the headaches. Content is very important, as is keywords. Why struggle with writing it, when lightning fast content is at your fingertips. All you need to do is look for it.
