Speed of Implementation is Key to Success

By: Cheryl A. Clausen

One thing you'll immediately notice about successful people is that they tend to take action to implement their plans and ideas at once. You'll also notice that unsuccessful people are just the opposite rarely taking action on anything. They spend huge amounts of their resources studying and analyzing things, but when it comes time to actually do something they just can't bring themselves to do it. And they don't get much help from the people around them because the people around them aren't successful either, but they have all kinds of opinions. Yet unsuccessful people continue to seek the thoughts and opinions of those around them when they should be making their own decisions.

The uninformed might think that successful people follow the behavior pattern of ready, fire, aim. They can take actions so quickly and easily because their always looking for opportunities that fit into their plans and they aren't afraid to implement them. They can do that because they always have a clear plan for what they're trying to accomplish.

When an opportunity comes up that will take you closer to success the best time to take action is always now. But you aren't able to do that because you treat information like facts. Define what you know and what you don't know. Verify that what you think you know is fact based not information based. Most people can't differentiate between information and facts and that causes them to be indecisive. Facts are based on undeniable truths and root causes.

You know something isn't a fact if it's based on thoughts and perceptions. It's very easy to take those thoughts and perceptions and turn them into realities. You may have information about outside circumstances and people, but the fact is only you determine your actions and outcomes.

You can change your unsuccessful behaviors. Identify one thing you could do right now that would help you to succeed. Then no matter how big or how small that actions is take it.

Make a commitment to yourself to take at least one action each and every day that will take you closer to success. Begin thinking in terms of actions and outcomes rather than projects and challenges. Focus on the ultimate outcome you want and the specific actions you must take to get it.
